House rules
A small place works when everyone in it looks after the work, the people in it and each other.
Post your own work
Post photos you took, or ones you have permission to share, and say so when you post. If the photo is someone else’s, credit them with Made with and make sure they’re happy for it to be here. Words you quote belong to whoever said them: say who.
The people in your pictures
Someone in a photo didn’t choose to be on Stories. Ask when you can, and think twice when you can’t, above all with children, people at protests, and anyone who could be hurt by being seen. If someone asks you to take their picture down, take it down.
The location hidden in your photos is removed before upload; only the place you type is shown. Keep it general when it should be: someone’s home, a nest, a den.
Be kind in the margins
Notes are for the work and the story. Disagree if you like, but never with the person. No harassment, no piling on, no following someone around from page to page, and no postcards they didn’t want.
Keep it honest
No spam, scams or fake accounts, and nothing made to mislead. Say when a picture is staged or heavily changed if it would matter to the reader.
Hard things
No hate, no threats, no nudity, and no violence for its own sake. Documentary work sometimes shows difficult things: give them the context they need, and keep the people in them safe.
If something is wrong
Use Report this page in a page’s ⋯ menu, the ⋯ beside a note, or the ⋯ on someone’s book. You can also mute or block anyone from there. Nobody is told who reported or blocked them.
The editors read every report, and hide a page or a note that breaks these rules. If something of yours is hidden and you think it’s a mistake, write to the editors from About.
