How pages are chosen

How pages are chosen

Nothing here is ranked for you. This is everything that decides what you see.

Today

Pages from the people you follow, and from tags you follow, since your last visit, newest first. When a lot has come in, each person gets one place a day (their newest story, or their photographs together) and the rest are listed by name underneath. Nobody else’s pages are mixed in.

Flip

First the pages you haven’t seen from people you follow, newest first. Then everyone else: this week’s new stories first, then everything else, newest first. Everyone sees the same order, and anything you’ve already scrolled past in Today or Flip is skipped.

Chosen by the editors

The editors pick a few pages by hand, each with a line saying why. A pick stays up for two weeks, and no more than four are up at once. When none is up, the newest fresh story takes the space.

Read to the end this week

Chosen by readers, not by us. It lists the stories most often read all the way to the end over the last seven days, counting only people who don’t already follow the writer, each person once, and at most one story per writer. It only appears once three stories qualify, and it never shows the numbers.

Fresh stories

Every new story spends its first week on Wander, whoever wrote it and however many people follow them.

What we never use

Loves, views and follower counts don’t move anything up or down. Nobody can pay to be seen. Muted tags and people stay out of your Today, Flip and Wander.
